GOSHEN, Ind. — The Rock the Quarry Triathlon and Mile Swim drew 283 participants to Fidler Pond Park on Saturday, Aug. 8, continuing the event’s growth in its 11th year.

This year’s turnout increased from 226 participants in 2025. Athletes and visitors traveled from across Indiana and from Illinois, Michigan, Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin, including several from the Indianapolis area.

Rock the Quarry Triathlon continues to grow

Goshen Parks & Recreation hosted the event, which featured a sprint triathlon with a 500-yard swim in Fidler Pond, a 15.8-mile bike ride and a 5K run. Athletes competed individually or as part of a relay team. Swimmers also competed in the one-mile open-water swim.

The event offers swimmers an opportunity to enter the former quarry, where the City does not allow public swimming during normal park use. Triathlon competitors left the pond for the cycling portion before returning to Fidler Pond Park for the 5K run.

Mayor Gina Leichty joined Goshen Parks & Recreation staff after the competition to present awards to winners in each category and age group.

The growing turnout and geographic reach continue to make Rock the Quarry a destination event for Goshen Parks & Recreation while introducing visitors to Fidler Pond Park and the Goshen community.
