Plan Commission

The Goshen Plan Commission helps guide how land is used and developed within the city. Zoning divides Goshen into districts and determines which uses are permitted on individual properties.

Property owners can contact the Planning & Zoning Department to determine their zoning classification or learn more about applicable requirements.

Purpose and responsibilities

The Plan Commission includes nine members representing the community and several areas of City government.

The mayor appoints five members to four-year terms, with no more than three representing the same political party. The Board of Public Works and Safety appoints one member annually.

The City Council and Park Board each appoint one member whose term coincides with their respective appointment. City Engineering provides one member on an ongoing basis.
