The Goshen Common Council passed Ordinance 5261, Amend False Alarm Penalty, on May 18, 2026. Goshen Common Council Mayor Gina Leichty approved and adopted the ordinance on May 19, 2026.
Under Ordinance 5261, the owner of real estate served by an alarm system is subject to a false alarm service charge for each false alarm exceeding two within a calendar year when the Goshen Police Department and/or Goshen Fire Department responds to the alarm site. The service charge is $150 for the third and fourth false alarms within a calendar year and $200 for the fifth and each subsequent false alarm within a calendar year.
Ordinance 5261 is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Goshen Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, 202 S. Fifth St., Goshen, Indiana.
