GOSHEN, Ind. The City of Goshen will lower the Millrace canal water level from Monday, July 6, through Monday, July 20, to support biennial bridge inspections approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety on Thursday, July 2.
The lower water level will give inspectors access to bridge substructures and supports that normally remain underwater, allowing them to complete a more thorough inspection.
Residents and visitors will notice lower-than-normal water levels throughout the canal during the inspection period. The City asks everyone to use caution near canal banks and avoid entering newly exposed areas.
The Engineering Department will place electronic message boards at key locations to notify residents and visitors of the temporary change.
The City will restore the canal to its normal water level after crews complete the inspections.
