GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen Water & Sewer Department issued a boil water advisory for customers on a portion of South 23rd Street while crews replace a water main valve on Wednesday, July 22. Work began at 9 a.m.

The advisory affects properties from 109 S. 23rd St. through 214 S. 23rd St., including 1714 Dykstra St.

The Goshen Water & Sewer Department expects to lift the advisory Saturday, July 25, pending satisfactory bacteriological test results. The department will notify residents when it lifts the advisory.

Boil Water Advisory expected through July 25

Customers should bring all drinking and cooking water to a rolling boil for five minutes before use until the advisory is lifted. Water remains safe for showering and flushing toilets.

The department issued the advisory as a precaution because water main repairs can introduce contaminants into the water system. Crews will collect water samples in two rounds at least 24 hours apart before lifting the advisory.

The department also asks residents to conserve water and use only what is necessary for household and personal needs while the advisory remains in effect.
