The Goshen Common Council passed Ordinance 5258, Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Licensing and Registration, on June 22, 2026. Mayor Gina Leichty approved and adopted the ordinance on June 22, 2026.
Ordinance 5258 requires a person acting in the capacity of an Electrical Contractor, Class A Mechanical Contractor or Class B Mechanical Contractor, collectively referred to as a contractor, to obtain the appropriate license and register with the Goshen Building Department before performing work within the City of Goshen.
The ordinance establishes requirements for obtaining a license and registration, requires renewal every three years, and establishes enforcement tools and penalties to help ensure qualified and competent persons perform electrical and mechanical work within the city.
