Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the temporary Fidler Pond Attendant is responsible for delivering excellent customer service during the operation of boat rentals and for park and facility grounds keeping. This position supports the Park Department staff in their efforts to provide and conduct high quality recreation programs, events and facilities within Goshen City Parks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position but not all-inclusive.

  • Provide boat rental and launching services to the public.
  • Oversee water activities.
  • Perform money handling and payment processing procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to park visitors.
  • Maintain facility and surroundings by picking up trash/debris, pulling weeds, and cleaning workspaces.  
  • Cleaning and maintenance of boats, lifejackets, and barn.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience Required

  • Relevant work experience in lawn maintenance.

Special Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities

  • Must be available 05/23/2026 to 08/02/2026, then Saturdays and Sundays through September 6.
  • Must be able to add/subtract to accurately count money & distribute accurate change.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to use hand to finer motions and distinguish money bills and face value.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to verbally communicate and exchange information.
  • Ability to use utilize departmental equipment including mechanic’s tools, medical supplies, equipment.
  • Must have the ability to recognize safety hazards and take the necessary measures to remedy them.
  • Must be able to problem solve and maintain control in an emergency.
  • Ability to exert physical effort in light to heavy (up to 75 lbs.) work involving routine stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting and pulling; ability to climb and balance.
  • Ability to walk and climb to inspect and work parkland, facilities and playgrounds.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and to exercise courtesy and tact in dealing with patrons.
  • Must be comfortable in and around open water; able to swim.

Environmental Adaptability

  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and inclement weather for extended periods.

Rate of Pay

  • Grade 5; $17.83/hourly based on current salary ordinance

Work Hours

  • Varied shifts between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. Weekend and evening hours required.
  • Must be available 05/23/2026 to 08/02/2026, then Saturdays and Sundays through September 6
  • Required for special events: Saturday, June 20 and Saturday, July 11
